4. Graphics
RATS provides two primary instructions for doing graphs: GRAPH, for time series graphs, and SCATTER, for X vs. Y scatter plots. GRAPH and SCATTER, as well as the auxiliary instructions SPGRAPH, GRTEXT, and GRPARM, provide a lot of flexibility. Among the capabilities:
* GRAPH can produce line graphs, filled line graphs, several types of bar graphs, and high-low-close plots.
* SCATTER can represent data points using symbols, dots, or symbols connected by lines.
* You can use either colors or dashed lines and patterns to distinguish series.
* automatic translation of colors to patterns when printing to a black-and-white printer.
* You can create pages containing multiple graphs and/or scatter plots.
* You can add a variety of different labels, including headers, subheaders, vertical and horizontal axis labels, and keys. You can control the size and style of each of these labels, and even choose the fonts used (Note: for the DOS version, font-selection is only supported for PostScript devices).
* RATS can export graphs in a variety of formats, including PostScript, Windows MetaFile, Macintosh PICT, Lotus PIC, and Hewlett-Packard plotter file format (some formats are available only on certain platforms). The Windows and Macintosh versions even allow you to copy graphs to the clipboard for pasting into other applications.
